Sleeve label
The technology of using sleeve labels is to use a label in the form of a folded sleeve made of various polymer films capable of shrinking at a certain temperature (reducing the geometric dimensions mainly in one direction). In the production processes of such films, they are subjected to significant stretching in the transverse direction and subsequent cooling, which “freezes” the deformed state. Upon subsequent heating of these films, they exhibit the “memory” effect, i.e., they tend to return to their original undeformed state.
Before the formation of the sleeve, a printed layer is applied to the surface of the film from the side that will become the inside of the sleeve.
One of the advantages of the production technology “sleeve” – labels is the versatility of equipment for their production, independent of the type of film material. The formation of a heat-shrink sleeve when changing from one film to another requires only a change in the chemical composition of the solvent, which forms a longitudinal adhesive seam.
When labeling, a piece of the manufactured sleeve of the required length is put on a container (bottle, can, etc.) and placed in a thermal or steam chamber to implement the shrinkage process.
